Warpaint Natural Teeth Whitener: worth the hype?
You’ve probably seen the photos of ridiculously beautiful women with the characteristic war paint marks on their faces, coupled with extremely white teeth. Or the pictures of people brushing their teeth with what looks like black toothpaste. Clever marketing, or does it really work?

In this post, I’ll be reviewing the product for myself, to let you know if it is worth the money!
DETAILS:
Warpaint Natural Teeth Whitener. Ingredients list: Activated coconut shell charcoal, Calcium Bentonite clay, Organic Sweet Orange Peel, Organic Peppermint, Organic Lemon Myrtle.
According to their website, Warpaint Natural Teeth Whitener claims to:
- Strengthen the gums
- Remove toxins from the mouth
- Absorbs heavy metals
The active ingredients actions are purported to be:
- Bentonite clay remineralises, acts as detoxifying agent, fights gum disease by strengthening the body’s natural immunity, works as an astringent by helping to remove tartar and cleans gums
- Organic sweet orange peel removes coffee stains, strengthens sensitive teeth
- Organic peppermint to reduce infections and inflammation
- Organic lemon myrtle to reduce bacteria and boost immune system, anti-fungal agent and calmative properties to soothe and relax
- Activated charcoal removes discolouration, stains and debris
COST:
$55 from Nourished Life. Interestingly, there have been a lot of other similar, spin-off products available now following on from the hype of Warpaint. Personally, I think $55 is pretty expensive for a small tub, especially considering its ingredients.
EASE OF USE:
Very easy to use with clear and straight-forward instructions. I used this for 1 month, and it lasted me approximately 50 brushes. It is very messy though! The powder is super fine, and black, so it gets everywhere! I would also suggest you use a dark coloured toothbrush, as I used a white one, and I can’t get the black discolouration out of it now!

VERDICT:
The initial colour of my teeth as shown on the shade tabs, compared to the colour of my teeth after using Warpaint for 1 month. Not very much change, unfortunately.
Here’s my ‘Warpaint’ smile… Not quite game enough to do the paint stripes though!!
So, after using the whole tub for 1 month, unfortunately my teeth did not appear any whiter than before. My teeth felt a lot cleaner and smoother after using it, so I it was certainly abrasive enough to remove surface stains, but that was about it. Apart from this, I didn’t notice the Warpaint did anything else to improve the health of my teeth and gums, and disappointingly, made no difference to the colour of my teeth. I am pretty lucky my teeth are already quite white and weren’t very stained either.

I can really only give 2 shiny teeth out of 5 shiny teeth for this product. I really wanted to like it, but it just didn’t do what it claimed to! Furthermore, there isn’t really any scientific evidence to back up any of the claims. It would be fine to use this product as an adjunct to your normal brushing and flossing routine, but I wouldn’t expect it to whiten your teeth very much.
