A dental crown, or commonly referred as a tooth crown – essentially is a “cap” that is fabricated and placed over a broken or decayed tooth and assists in restoring it, making it more durable, longer-lasting and improves the visual appearance of the tooth.
When administered, dental crowns look and function the same way a normal tooth would.
The cost of a dental crown varies, partly due to the time required to restore the affected tooth and the material selected to produce the crown (cap). For example, porcelain crowns can be more expensive than gold crowns, and gold crowns are usually are more expensive than porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns.
Due to these factors, among others, the cost of dental crowns is calculated on a case-by-case basis and could range from $800 – $2,500. To receive a tailored estimate based on your own dental requirements, please inquire or book an appointment.
Enquire HereGetting a dental crown requires a set of minor procedures that usually commence with a dentist removing the outer surface layer of the cracked or decayed tooth and creating a mould of the tooth. The tooth mould is then sent to a dental technician who produces a crown (cap) by emulating the thickness of the removed layer, along with matching the colour of your teeth, to assist with the crown blending in with the rest of your teeth (for a natural look).
When the dental crown is produced, a secondary procedure will be required to fit the crown to your existing tooth with the use of adhesive or dental cement. Depending on the time frame, it takes the crown to be produced; you may have a temporary crown placed on your tooth.

Dental crowns can be made from various materials such as resin, porcelain, ceramic, stainless steel, gold or other metal alloys.
Resin-based crowns are the less expensive option in comparison to other materials. However, resin crowns deteriorate over time and are commonly prone to fractures in comparison to porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns.
Metal-based crowns such as gold or platinum are considered to be the longest lasting and rarely break or chip. They are best suited for restoring back teeth as they easily withstand chewing and biting pressure.
