Our dentist reviews the Oral-B iO 7 Series Black Onyx

We love our electric toothbrushes at Dental Quarters, so when it was time for Dr Steve to get a new toothbrush, he jumped at the chance to try out the new Oral-B iO 7 Series Black.

This new toothbrush uses revolutionary magnetic cleaning technology, AI recognition and an interactive display to give you feedback on how well you are cleaning.

There are 5 different cleaning modes: Daily Clean, Sensitive, Gum Care, Intense Clean, Whitening. The display also gives you feedback on when you need to replace your toothbrush head, greets you, and even praises you when you do a good job. We know we all need a bit of encouragement sometimes!

5 stars! Dr Steve is really loving this new toothbrush! Here’s a summary of the pros and cons.

Things we love:

1. The new bristle design cleans really effectively around the gumlines
2. The charger is almost flat making it easier to clean
3. The different settings are all very different, the brushing movements are finer and more effective
4. The timer feedback face: if you brush too short, you get the ‘sad face’, and if you do a great job
5. Handle is shorter, weightier and easier to manouevre
6. Pressure sensor indicates not only when you brush too hard, but also tells you when you are brushing with the correct pressure

Things that could be better:

1. Cost
2. Brush heads are almost double the cost of the usual Oral-B brush heads
3. Whilst the charger is flatter making it easier to clean, it also means the toothbrush can come off it easier
